Elstree Lawn Tennis Club is a very friendly, social club with a relaxed atmosphere. We welcome players of all age groups and abilities.

WELCOME!

We are probably the friendliest and best value club in the area. Elstree offers a full programme of events, both social and tennis related, and new members of all ages are always welcome. We currently run two teams in the Watford & District League, play in the Kenton Winter League and also compete in the Hertfordshire Hot Rackets (summer) League.  There are Men's, Women's and Mixed doubles matches.

Whether you are a junior, student or adult wanting to learn how to play tennis, a 'rusty' player or even an experienced player looking for a new club, this site provides details about our facilities and how to join.

A very wet Sunday morning did not deter our intrepid fundraisers... Congratulations to Mark M and Ketul (winners), as well as Romulo and Ginny (runners up). Thanks to Jenny for persevering despite the dire forecast and for organising such a fun event in a great cause. Well done also everybody who turned up!

Charity Quiz Night

ELTC has raised £750 for Hatzola (+4420 3388 7061 / https://hatzolaherts.org.uk) our local volunteer emergency ambulance service via a tricky quiz night at the club at the end of October. Hatzola is a free to use alternative to the normal ambulance service and is accessible by everyone.

Court resurfacing

The Court Resurfacing programme  is now complete. Please treat the new courts with respect and don't drop chewing gum, food items or rubbish on the surfaces. ELTC has invested almost £100,000 of members money to make these the best courts possible. If you notice anything wrong, please inform a member of the committee at your earliest opportunity.  The committee is aware of the rucking on Court 4. Please play on that court at your own discretion as this could become a trip hazard. We are taking steps to rectify this issue.

Free Balls

Please note that Slazenger club balls should be returned to the clubhouse after play and emptied into the white basket in the hallway. These can then be used again by other members. We are currently trying out some different types of balls to see which play best for longest. Please let us know what you think and don't be surprised if the balls in the basket are not Slazenger!

PLEASE DO NOT USE "V" BALLS FROM BALL MACHINE BASKETS FOR SOCIAL OR PRIVATE GAMES.

To ensure that you have a decent set of balls to play your games, we recommend that you always carry your own tube for when club balls have gone "missing" or have suffered from wet weather.

Floodlights

As everyone is aware, the costs for electricity are eye-watering. At the moment we are keeping floodlight usage free to members. Understandably, this might have to change at some stage in the future.  If it does, we will of course inform you. In the meantime, please turn off the floodlights as soon as you have finished your game. Please do not leave this for someone else to do later.

Court availability

In order to be most successful in securing a court at any time, please arrange your private games throughout the day where possible. Members cannot book courts but you can view court bookings so you can estimate how busy the club is at any given time.  The booking function is only available to coaches and administrators. All other bookings will not be valid.

CAN ALL MEMBERS PLEASE CLEAR YOUR RUBBISH FROM THE COURTS WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED PLAYING. THIS INCLUDES BANANA SKINS!

PLEASE ALSO ENSURE THAT ALL THE GATES ARE LOCKED - ESPECIALLY THE MAIN GATE. SECURITY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY.

DON'T FORGET TO WASH UP ANYTHING YOU USE IN THE CLUBHOUSE TOO.
