Tournament for Ukraine
On Thursday 24th March a fun 'Rusty Rackets' tournament was held to raise money for victims of the war in Ukraine. The evening was greatly enjoyed and donations reached a whopping £300! Well done to all participants and especially the winners - James Bowden and Sue Radford (pictured below left with close Runners Up Clare Bowden and Joe Aiello). You all did us proud. Thanks Jenny (club coach) for organising such a fabulous event.
Phase 1 of the resurfacing project is complete with courts 1-3 now open. We have had lots of positive feedback about the Tiger Turf from members and are definitely finding less sand in our socks!!
Courts 4-6 are now due to be start the end of August because of another delay.
Please note that Slazenger club balls should be returned to the clubhouse after play and emptied into the white basket in the hallway. These can then be used again by other members.
PLEASE DO NOT USE V BALLS FROM BALL MACHINE BASKETS FOR SOCIAL OR PRIVATE GAMES.
In order to be most successful in securing a court at any time, please arrange your private games throughout the day where possible. Members cannot book courts but you can view court bookings so you can estimate how busy the club is at any given time. The booking function is only available to coaches and administrators. All other bookings will not be valid.
Our £500 grant towards a celebration of the Queen's Jubilee turned out to be well spent on festivities and everyone had a jolly spiffing time on Thursday 2nd June. A right royal victory for Team Corgi in the fun tournament was followed by a street party on the club terrace complete with bunting, lashings of Ginger Beer (Pimms) and lots of lovely food.
CAN ALL MEMBERS PLEASE CLEAR YOUR RUBBISH FROM THE COURTS WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED PLAYING. THIS INCLUDES BANANA SKINS!
PLEASE ALSO ENSURE THAT ALL THE GATES ARE LOCKED - ESPECIALLY THE MAIN GATE. SECURITY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY.
DON'T FORGET TO WASH UP ANYTHING YOU USE IN THE CLUBHOUSE TOO.
The AGM was held on Sunday 27th March 2022.
